Our Story

Barkley’s Bait and Tackle was born out of a love for fishing, family, and the outdoors. What started as a small idea—just a few rods, some bait, and countless early mornings on the river—grew into a vision for something bigger: a place where anglers and families could come together, find quality gear, and share the joy of fishing.

Growing up in Western North Carolina, we saw firsthand how fishing connects people. It’s not just about catching fish—it’s about being outside, teaching the next generation, and protecting the waters we all rely on. With fewer young people heading outdoors today, Barkley’s was created to help change that.

Our shop is more than shelves of tackle. It’s a gathering place. A spot where you can grab a cup of coffee, swap stories about the one that got away, and leave with the right bait and the right advice to make your trip a success. We’re committed to giving back to the community through education, youth programs, and conservation efforts to keep our rivers and lakes thriving.
